So you want to know my toxic trait, friend? Here it is: asking you for your opinion and doing what I wanted in the first place anywaysâŚÂ
Â
I posted a poll on Instagram asking which phrase resonates with you: "the well-collected home" or "the inspired home."
Â
I was trying to decide which to use in my tagline: "Original art for the ___ home."
Â
The inspired home won by a landslide.
Â
I was honestly like đ¤Żđ¤Żđ¤Ż because I liked "the well-collected home" so much better!
Â
So I wondered đ¤ maybe it needs more explanation?
Â
Cause "inspired" is cool and all + I want my messaging to resonate but itâs also kind ofâŚgeneric. đŹ
Â
LikeâŚyou can be "inspired" and buy a boring beige sectional + a set of farmhouse signs from Hobby Lobby + a gold lamp from đŻ and thatâsâŚcute.Â
Â
𫣠Yeah, Iâm throwing shade but that copy & paste trendy look just isnât my thing.
Â
I believe the best home is decorated over time. Itâs filled with family heirlooms: your grandmotherâs lamp, comfortable old couches youâve slipcovered to update the 1980's floral upholstery, a quilt your mom made. Next there are well designed chairs you invested in, Facebook marketplace finds, wall art you couldnât believe you found at the thrift shop for $4, and paintings you splurged on because couldnât live without them.
Â
Old stuff, unique stuff, layers and textures and mixed patterns and things made by hand or made a long time ago.
Â
When I create, my dream is that my work becomes a part of that narrative. That it will be included in the backdrop where the story of your life takes place: your beautiful, well-collected home.
Â
Then it hit me: it needs a tweak!
Â
đYou can take a nerd out of the library, but you canât take the nerd đ¤ outta the girl: words matter, and one little edit makes all the difference.
Â
ORIGINAL ART FOR YOUR WELL-COLLECTED HOME.
Â
Is this the mic đ¤ drop?
Â
Because my art isnât just for any generic, run of the mill, "customer avatarâs" home.
Â
Itâs for you. The home that belongs to the one unique, beautiful, precious YOU.
Â
I think that makes all the difference.
