Charlotte Pottieger is an abstract painter known for layered compositions that explore color, texture, and space. Studio Practice
Charlotte’s paintings emerge through a layered process of color mixing, mark-making, and observation. She allows each piece to evolve gradually—adding, removing, and refining until the composition feels balanced.
Her work often incorporates gestural brushwork, oil pastel, and subtle texture, creating surfaces that reveal new details over time. This process reflects her belief that paintings should reward close looking and continue to unfold within the spaces where they live.
Background
Charlotte grew up in Virginia and studied Art History and Mathematics before earning a master’s degree in Higher Education Administration. Her early career included leading a successful sales team and owning a personal styling business—experiences that deepened her understanding of aesthetics and how people express themselves through the spaces they create.
After the birth of her son, Charlotte returned to painting, rediscovering a creative practice she had loved since childhood. What began as a quiet outlet quickly became the foundation for a new chapter as a full-time artist.
Today she paints from her home studio in Charlottesville, Virginia, where she lives with her family.

Charlotte’s work is rooted in the belief that the spaces we live in shape how we feel. Thoughtfully chosen objects—especially original art—bring depth, warmth, and meaning to everyday life.
