Savoring France, Six Years Later: 3 Ways Our Trip Still Brings Us Joy

Nearly six years ago, Brad and I embarked on a dream trip to France—one filled with charming cafés, breathtaking countryside, and unforgettable experiences. From the bustling streets of Paris to the rolling vineyards of Beaujolais, every moment felt like a scene from a postcard.

And the magic didn’t end when we boarded our flight home. Some trips leave an imprint so deep that they continue to weave their way into everyday life, bringing joy long after the suitcases are unpacked. It’s that lingering beauty, the way a single experience can continue to inspire, that led me to create my Postcards from France collection. Just like a postcard sent from a magical moment in time, these paintings capture the essence of France—the colors, the light, the feeling of being swept away.

Here are three ways we still experience the joy of that trip, nearly six years later:

1. A Taste of Beaujolais

One of the most enchanting parts of our trip was visiting the Beaujolais wine region. We were lucky enough to take a private vineyard tour with the owner, walking between the rows of vines, learning about the winemaking process, and of course, sipping some of the most incredible wines. We even enjoyed a romantic lunch right there in the vineyard—it felt like something straight out of a dream!

Even now, we love seeking out Beaujolais wines here in the U.S. They’re not as common, but when we do find a bottle, opening it feels like uncorking a memory. With every sip, we’re transported back to those golden fields, warm sunshine, and the quiet joy of that unforgettable day.

2. Bringing French Cuisine Home

One of the best parts of traveling? The food! From cozy cafés to elegant bistros, every meal in France was a work of art. One of our favorite dining experiences was at a small restaurant in Paris with a set menu—no decisions to make, just course after course of incredible flavors.

While we can’t hop over to Paris for dinner, we love keeping French cuisine in our lives, whether it’s making crêpes for breakfast at home (I’ll link my favorite recipe here!) or treating ourselves to a meal at a French restaurant stateside. Every bite brings us right back to those candlelit dinners, flaky pastries, and leisurely afternoons spent savoring the moment.

3. The Soundtrack of Paris & Beyond

Music has a way of taking you places, and French music instantly brings back the magic of our trip. Whether it’s the soundtrack to a morning coffee, a weekend drive, or an impromptu dance in the kitchen, it reminds us of the moments we spent strolling the Left Bank, gliding along the Seine on a moonlit boat ride, and driving through the French countryside, where the landscapes looked like something from a storybook.

That feeling—the romance, the charm, the effortless beauty—is exactly what I wanted to capture in Postcards from France. Each painting is infused with the colors and textures of those unforgettable scenes, a little visual souvenir to bring that sense of wonder into your home.

I can’t wait to share this collection with you soon! Until then, tell me—do you have a favorite trip that continues to bring you joy in unexpected ways?
